Yes, we can redirect and hold mail for consumers and businesses. You can apply for these services at your local Post Office or online. If you’re in self-isolation or quarantine and need to cancel your existing mail hold or redirect, contact us online for help.
We’re keeping many of the major marketplaces updated on our estimated delivery times, which they will share with their customers. We’re working together to make sure sellers aren’t impacted by the current delays.
Yes, collection times have been brought forward while coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions are in place, including for Express Post and Parcel Post.
As our business adapts to the challenges the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic presents, we are constantly looking at ways to optimise our delivery network to make sure customers will receive their parcel as quickly as possible.
In some cases, we are having to process and deliver from an alternative location and customers may notice when tracking their parcel, that it is coming from a different location to what they are used to.
No. To minimise the risk of contracting or spreading coronavirus (COVID-19), we’ve enabled contactless delivery. This means signatures are no longer required for all parcels, whether you’re collecting from a Post Office or at home.
For home delivery of parcels normally requiring a signature, if you’re at home, the delivery driver will record your name and confirm delivery on their handheld device, then leave the parcel at your door. If you’re not at home, a card will be left, with instructions on where to pick up your parcel.
For Post Office collection, our staff will confirm your name and record your collection on their device, then leave the parcel on the counter for you to pick up.
In all cases, whether a driver or postie delivers to the door or a customer goes in to their local Post Office to collect a parcel, an Australia Post staff member will ask and record the customer’s name and delivery on the handheld device.
We are endeavouring to collect from all business customers that remain open during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, if we can’t get to you, you can either take your mail to a local Post Office or one of our Business Hubs.
Some parcel deliveries are being delayed by major COVID-19 disruptions. If your enquiry is about the delivery of essential medication, please contact us as soon as you think your item is running late or missing.
For all other domestic deliveries, please wait until 15 business days after the expected delivery date before making a late item enquiry. You can get the expected delivery date by tracking your parcel using the AusPost app or our online tracking tool.

The tracking status ‘possible delay’ means the item has been lodged into our network and received by us but it might be delayed for one of the following reasons.
- There has been a disruption to our transport or delivery network. This could be something like a flood or a traffic incident
- The ‘to’ or ‘from’ address falls outside the product’s defined network. For example, items being sent to or from a location outside the Express Post network will still be delivered as fast as possible if they’re sent via Express Post, they’ll just take a bit longer
- The dangerous goods declaration hasn’t been signed by the sender to confirm that the parcel doesn’t contain hazardous materials and that it can be carried safely
- The weight or size of the item has been underestimated by the sender, which could mean that extra postage needs to be paid
- With international items, the contents might need to be inspected further by customs or quarantine authorities
- The item hasn’t been lodged correctly. For example, if an Express Post item is posted in a red street posting box.
If you see this tracking status, try tracking your item again in another day or so, or contact the sender to follow up.
